We all value human life. Prominent acknowledgement of this value is given by our Constitution. in Section 5, Article II, the Declaration of Principles and State Policies, the Constitution commits the State to "the protection of life, liberty and property," primacy always being given to life as in the Bill of Rights which says in the first section that no person shall be deprived of "life, liberty or property without due process of law." So far-reaching and pervasive is the concern of the Constitution for human life that it has ordained it as a State policy to "protect the life of the mother and the life of the unborn from conception."
